grrr up most of the night....

Thanks to mother nature, Ryan and I were up most of the night last night trying to console Kenzie. She is terrified of storms and well at about midnight, it got really bad. Tornado warnings and all. Then about 1230 our power went out and I had to use the backlight on my phone to find the candle and lighter. We laid in the bed with Kenzie by candlelight trying to get her to sleep and about the time we did(230) the phone rang. It was Mom calling to check on us and after that the lights started flickering on and off which made Kenzie even more scared. So as she was screaming "get me ready. my bus will be here." Maddie was sound asleep in her bed! So amazing the difference between the two kids. Finally we got her to sleep and she woke up to my alarm clock saying, "Momma, get me ready for school." So I get her off to school and lay back down til Maddie woke up. Then it was off to the grocery store. Then Kenzie came home from school. We ran errands all day. Then to church and now here I sit wondering what the sermon was about due to my having to go to the nursery with Maddie. She got upset right when Brian was starting to speak. I think I might e mail him and find out some of the key points he made. I did get this out of it.... What was the baby name that was in the top 20 in 2k6 but then drop to the 300's after? it was Katrina! So other than that I didn't get to hear anything. There were some good praise songs (thanks Megan and Chris) and Kenzie was a sweetie! See Megan and Chris' blog for the details.

The importance of connections

Many times, we don't take the opportunity in life to think about connections. Much like the way legos connect to erect the building or vehicle you are trying to create, without connecting pieces, our lives would fall apart. It's not often that we take time to reflect on those connections in meaningful ways. If I am honest, when we moved from Indiana back to Florida, we didn't appreciate the connections we had and so as I look back I wonder what life would have been like if we'd not only appreciated those connections, but supported them in meaningful ways.  Since moving to Greenville, not only have we made connections, but we've made it a part of life to connect with those people we've met that have become more like family than friends. We took the time to find a church that really believes in connecting with their people and not in a way that makes the patrons of the church feel like they are just a player in the game of chess and that player's job is to be

Workout #27

So, here's the challenge. And above, you can see my entry. Kenzie had done crosswords or circle a words (I can't remember) with Gigi and I snapped a pic of her doing it. I absolutely love the design of the sketch we were supposed to use for this lo. It allows for a simple, yet stunning layout. It allows room for journaling as you can see that I added as well as plenty of negative space! And the breakdown goes like this, picture was taken from my collection, background paper was from k and company the best of k and company pad, the circles were literally just picked out of my scrap box. I didn't even look at the papers, i just did a random pick. the lettering was taken from an old sheet of alphas i had and I think they worked out great!!! Simple yet Stunning! Thank you Scrap Fit for the challenge.
