"No Monkey Bars Mommy!"

I know, the title.... That is what Kenzie said to me when she got home from school today. She had a good day. She didn't get hurt today at school. I learned that there are 15 children in her class. Wow! She has a bigger class than I had originally had thought. Ryan had a busy day. Maddie took about 4 steps today. She is getting closer to taking off. She will only take steps to me though. She will not walk to her daddy. Sorry Dad. She just isn't ready yet I don't think. And besides, Kenzie was your baby girl, Maddie is mine! Kent helped me with a project today... I decided that it was time to get our weedeater that Ryan's parents had bought us last spring in working order. It is brand new, but we couldn't get the new attachment on it. He had to actually perform surgery so to speak on it. We cut the red end off of it just to get the new piece on the shaft. After doing that, Kent was able to get the new piece on it and we did some yard work. It was nice having someone who has done this kind of thing before to help me out with this thing. I was going to take it up to mom's house so that Pop could fix it, but he didn't know how long it would be before he could work on it, so I asked Kent yesterday and got it done today. That was nice. I started the roses for the small wedding cake for next week. I also changed the design for maddie's cake I think. I am going to do something different and when I do, you will see the pic. I don't want to spoil the surprise. I will put pics on here right after her party at the end of the month. Oh, yeah, I can't forget that we got to talk to Derrick tonight. I haven't heard from him in a while. It was nice to talk to him. He told me about a new cake that Amanda is working on. It will be really cute. It is a shoebox with a high heel leopard skin shoe on it. I can't wait for the pic of it. Anyway, I will keep you posted and try and get pics later this week if the kids will cooperate. Lots of Love!

The importance of connections

Many times, we don't take the opportunity in life to think about connections. Much like the way legos connect to erect the building or vehicle you are trying to create, without connecting pieces, our lives would fall apart. It's not often that we take time to reflect on those connections in meaningful ways. If I am honest, when we moved from Indiana back to Florida, we didn't appreciate the connections we had and so as I look back I wonder what life would have been like if we'd not only appreciated those connections, but supported them in meaningful ways.  Since moving to Greenville, not only have we made connections, but we've made it a part of life to connect with those people we've met that have become more like family than friends. We took the time to find a church that really believes in connecting with their people and not in a way that makes the patrons of the church feel like they are just a player in the game of chess and that player's job is to be

I have tried a few times and failed to save this on my computer, so I'm going to try here. Workout #27

So, here's the challenge. And above, you can see my entry. Kenzie had done crosswords or circle a words (I can't remember) with Gigi and I snapped a pic of her doing it. I absolutely love the design of the sketch we were supposed to use for this lo. It allows for a simple, yet stunning layout. It allows room for journaling as you can see that I added as well as plenty of negative space! And the breakdown goes like this, picture was taken from my collection, background paper was from k and company the best of k and company pad, the circles were literally just picked out of my scrap box. I didn't even look at the papers, i just did a random pick. the lettering was taken from an old sheet of alphas i had and I think they worked out great!!! Simple yet Stunning! Thank you Scrap Fit for the challenge.
