Busy Friday

Today has been a busy Friday. We woke up early. I went off to the bank and then to order Kenzie's cake since our oven isn't in proper working order as of yet, so I am having Jay C bake and Ice the cake, then I am finishing it off with a cake decorating kit. I know it isn't home made like I have done other years, but I am not in the mood to travel 40 minutes just to bake a small cake. We are having Mom, Pop, Mimi (one of the girls I work with), and Uncle Maxx over for cake and taco salad and then presents. I think Kenzie will enjoy it just as much as a huge party. So, I am taking the small way out this year. We just have too much going on to worry about a big party. Maddie has been such a good girl today. She even sat (on her own accord) on her potty for a few minutes today. First with her pants up and then she stood up and sat on it with them down (while I was sitting on my potty!). How cute is she? She didn't do anything, but I think it is definately a step in the right direction. We are looking at finances to see how soon we can buy the stuff to have Pop do our roof. He wants to have it done really soon, but I have to know financially how much to give him and I have a ballpark of around 2500 total for the job, but that is because he is my step dad and he is giving me a huge deal on it. Will definately know more in a few weeks. I am changing the color from black to brown. I am hoping that we can get this job done real soon. Ryan is himself. Upstairs watching sports on tv right now I would assume. Kenzie and Maddie are at Mom's house since we both have to work tomorrow and I am working on figuring out some financials. Just thought I would drop you guys an update since I will be out of commission for two days. Good luck getting through the weekend without a post! LOL!
Love,
Ryan, Dawn, Kenzie and Maddie Cox

The importance of connections

Many times, we don't take the opportunity in life to think about connections. Much like the way legos connect to erect the building or vehicle you are trying to create, without connecting pieces, our lives would fall apart. It's not often that we take time to reflect on those connections in meaningful ways. If I am honest, when we moved from Indiana back to Florida, we didn't appreciate the connections we had and so as I look back I wonder what life would have been like if we'd not only appreciated those connections, but supported them in meaningful ways.  Since moving to Greenville, not only have we made connections, but we've made it a part of life to connect with those people we've met that have become more like family than friends. We took the time to find a church that really believes in connecting with their people and not in a way that makes the patrons of the church feel like they are just a player in the game of chess and that player's job is to be

Oatmeal Energy Bites

I have tried a few times and failed to save this on my computer, so I'm going to try here. Workout #27

So, here's the challenge. And above, you can see my entry. Kenzie had done crosswords or circle a words (I can't remember) with Gigi and I snapped a pic of her doing it. I absolutely love the design of the sketch we were supposed to use for this lo. It allows for a simple, yet stunning layout. It allows room for journaling as you can see that I added as well as plenty of negative space! And the breakdown goes like this, picture was taken from my collection, background paper was from k and company the best of k and company pad, the circles were literally just picked out of my scrap box. I didn't even look at the papers, i just did a random pick. the lettering was taken from an old sheet of alphas i had and I think they worked out great!!! Simple yet Stunning! Thank you Scrap Fit for the challenge.
